DUTCH SEAM PANEL ON ROOF & WALLS

July 31, 2023

Benefits of DutchSeam:

  • Can be used on 2/12 pitch
  • Unlimited expansion/contraction
  • Great wind uplift performance
  • Aesthetic seams (no clip read)

Roof/Wall Best Practices:

  • Try to keep roof and wall panels separated if possible.
  • Don’t overlook the importance of water management.
  • If there is no installer involved in the project, design with the lowest bidder in mind.
  • Don’t be afraid to pass on a project that will end with poor results.

Knee Cap Design Considerations:

  • Expansion and contraction of wall and roof.
  • Use clips at the highest part of the wall and lowest part of the roof.
  • Floating ridge cap.
  • Penetrations: windows, skylights, doors, pipe boots.
  • Stiffening ribs make it a little more difficult to create a crisp bend.
  • Potential snow load/solar panels.
  • Traditionally, weight load is held by fasteners at the ridge. In this application, load is held by clip on the tops of wall. Depending on size of roof/geography, engineering may want to be considered.
