ATAS International, Inc. is an AIA/CES provider offering four approved seminars:

AIA Continuing Education
-Understanding Metal Roofing (1 HSW/CEH)
-Transpired Solar Collectors (1 HSW/CEH)
-Energy Efficent Building Envelope Technology Building Green with Metal
(1 HSW/SD/CEH)
-Test methods related to metal roofing- the test and the reality! (1 HSW/CEH)

Qualified instructors conduct the seminar and encourage a question and answer session. Training may be held at an architect's office, an AIA chapter meeting, CSI chapter meeting or another convenient location.
If your office cannot hold a large group or you would like to combine the seminar with other firms, ATAS will rent a room at a hotel or other large gathering space to accomodate groups of 20 people and over.

    • Observe and recognize the history of metal roofing and the different types of metal used
    • Explain the manufacturing process and the importance of finish coatings
    • Describe the difference between low slope roof systems and steep slope roof systems
    • Understand the environmental benefits, sustainable technology and the features of metal roofing

    Transpired Solar Collectors

    • Solar Heating and Fresh Air Ventilation System
    • How Transpired Solar Collectors Function
    • Wall Orientation, Components and Installation
    • Features and Benefits of Transpired Solar Collectors during both Heating and Cooling Seasons

Energy Efficient Building Envelope Technology- Building Green with Metal

    • How metal cladding on roof and walls can contribute to a sustainable building initiative
    • The concept and technology of a Building Integrated Photovoltaic System (BIPV), and how the Photovoltaic laminate uses sunlight to generate electricity
    • The combination of solar reflectance and thermal emittance of Cool Metal Roofing and the concepts of Above Sheathing Ventilation, requirements for ENERGY STAR® qualified Roof Products, and view the results of a case study that lowered energy costs by using a Cool Roof
    • The function of a Transpired Solar Collector, benefits during heating and cooling seasons, effects of wall orientation and results from the case study

Test methods related to metal roofing- the test and the reality!

    • Identify the types of metal roof panels and their performance capabilities and understand the test methods established for metal roof systems.
    • Create specifications that identify the proper test methods to be included for the various roof products, styles and application.
    • Recognize proper code requirements for metal roof systems.
    • Discover how actual field performance of products relates to test methods and procedures.
